Offshore Petroleum Acreage Release Data Room

Facilities

Geoscience Australia offers free, secure access to the latest seismic and geological data supporting the current Australian Offshore Petroleum Acreage Release, and is available to all Australian and international petroleum exploration companies.

Caption: Geoscience Australia's Offshore Acreage Release Data Room Access to the data is provided in the Offshore Petroleum Acreage Release Data Room (the Data Room) where seismic data for each current acreage release area is loaded onto computer work stations for instant access and assessment.

Facilities within the Data Room include one Internet interconnected PC, one Kingdom® XP PC, one GeoFrame™ running on a Linux PC, and a colour printer. Geoscientists are available to assist with the software if required.

To ensure the security of your research and complete confidentiality, all PCs are refreshed back to a known state at the completion of each delegation's visit.

What data can you take away with you?

Once you have found the information you require, pre-packaged, work-station-ready seismic data can be provided either at the time of your visit, or ordered and mailed to you. The data is available in GeoFrame™, Kingdom®, and Landmark™ formats, at the cost of transfer from our Geoscience Australia Repository:

Also included on the hard drive are the well logs, well completion reports and destructive analysis reports for all areas. Other associated well data, seismic survey interpretation reports and relevant publications are also available and can be ordered at the time of your visit.

Data Room booking information

The Data Room is available for a maximum of three consecutive working days. Delegations are limited to four people per visit.
Visiting times are Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 (excluding Australian Capital Territory public holidays).

Visits to the Data Room may be booked from February to November inclusive. Peak periods are February, March, August and September so please provide two to three weeks notice in order to secure your preferred booking.

To request access to the Data Room, please complete the Online Booking Form. This requires the following information that will assist us to resource and tailor the Data Room efficiently for your visit:

Viewing of the cores will take place in our on-site Repository.

This request will be received by our Data Room staff who will then confirm your visit by email. A 'Disclaimer and Indemnity Agreement' will also be emailed to you. You will be asked to sign it on your arrival and prior to accessing the Data Room.

You can purchase lunch, snacks and beverages from Cafe Rocco, situated on the Ground Floor. The Cafe is open from 8am to 4pm each day.

What happens when you get here

On your arrival you will be met at Reception (on the Ground Floor) by one of our Data Room Coordinators who will arrange for your delegation to be provided with temporary electronic passes to access the Data Room. At this point, your delegation leader will be asked to sign the 'Disclaimer and Indemnity Agreement'. You will then be accompanied to the Data Room and given a brief overview of the facilities available.

A Data Room coordinator will be available to assist with the introduction to Geoscience Australia consultants, well core viewing, ordering and purchasing of data.
