Making science fun will be the order of the day when AGSO - Geoscience Australia holds its open day this Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
Activities include talks on giants of the past and present with live exhibits from the Australian Reptile Centre, and fruits of the Earth with wine tastings from the local Kyeema winery.
Children can make volcanos and dinosaur models, and have their pet rocks identified while parents take a tour of the award winning facility.
The open day marks the start of international Earth Science Week, October 7 to 13, which aims to show people that learning about science can be fun.
"Earth Science Week provides an opportunity to learn about our Earth and how it works it a fun and interactive way," said Geoscience Australia chief executive, Dr Neil Williams.
AGSO - Geoscience Australia is located at the corner of Jerrabomberra Avenue and Hindmarsh Drive, Symonston.
