Hundreds of aftershocks followed the earthquake that caused the devastating Boxing Day tsunami. On 26 December alone, fifty-two aftershocks of magnitude 5.0 or above were recorded.

The pattern of these aftershocks and the extent of their coverage can be seen in two animations on the recently created Geohazard Updates pages.

The new Geohazard Updates pages will provide information on all major geohazard events in the future, with direct access to the latest earthquake and hazard news.
