Geoscience Australia Annual Procurement Plan 2008-09

Strategic procurement outlook

Geoscience Australia is Australia's national geoscience research and information organisation. It is a prescribed agency under the Financial Management and Accountability Act within the Federal Portfolio of Resources, Energy and Tourism. On behalf of the Government, Geoscience Australia aims to achieve enhanced potential for the Australian community to obtain economic, social and environmental benefits through enhanced global attractiveness of Australian offshore and onshore exploration investment opportunities; improved resource management and environmental protection; and safer communities and transportation.

Our research and information contributes to enhanced economic, social and environmental benefits to the community - by providing input for decisions that impact upon resource use, management of the environment, and the safety and well-being of Australians.

Geoscience Australia employs approximately 750 personnel in operational, scientific and administrative staff, with the primary office situated in Canberra, and a smaller project office situated in Alice Springs.

All Geoscience Australia procurement is administered by each division and branch: Geospatial and Earth Monitoring Division (GEMD); Onshore Energy and Minerals Division (OEMD); Petroleum and Marine Division (PMD); Information Services Branch (ISB); and Corporate Branch.

Based on the best available information at the time of publication, Geoscience Australia expects to be seeking tender responses for the procurement described below. This Annual Procurement Plan will be updated quarterly to provide information on new, deferred or deleted procurement requirements.
