Onshore Carbon Storage

The Onshore Carbon Storage Project was established through the Australian Government's Clean Energy Initiative to evaluate and establish suitable sites to store CO2 captured from power stations and other large emitters. The program includes a series of collaborative programs between Commonwealth, State Governments and industry to analyse the sub-surface suitability for carbon storage in different regions using a variety of geological techniques throughout Australia. Outcomes from this work will contribute to the growth of clean energy generation by reducing CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. This will be achieved by helping to accelerate the development and deployment of carbon capture and geological storage (CCS) technology.
