The Annual Report sets out Geoscience Australia's performance over the financial year, against the following outcome which is identified in the annual budget process:
"Informed government, industry and community decisions on the economic, social and environmental management of the nation’s natural resources through enabling access to geoscientific and spatial information".
Appendices provide information relating to the use of consultants, occupational health and safety issues, Freedom of Information, advertising and market research, ecologically sustainable development, the Commonwealth Disability Strategy and the presentation of financial statements.
For the duration of 2012-13 Geoscience Australia was part of the former Resources, Energy and Tourism portfolio. As such, Geoscience Australia’s 2012-13 Annual Report is contained within the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism Annual Report 2012-13.
