Landsat 7 - The Movie


NASA launched Landsat 7 in April 1999, which is now providing improved resolution satellite imagery of the world. In Australia, ACRES acquires, processes and distributes Landsat images of Australia.

This five minute video shows the launch of the satellite and explains how the new Landsat sensor works and how the imagery can be used.

Rather than presenting the video as one very large file (too large for downloading), it has been cut into six shorter consecutive segments. While this may interrupt viewing, each segment has been labelled and may still be viewed on its own.

Landsat 7 - The Movie can be viewed in either AVI (for MS Internet Explorer) or Quicktime (for MS Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator/Communicator) format. Click on the format of your choice:
