National Mine Safety Framework (NMSF)
The National Mine Safety Framework is an initiative of the former Ministerial Council on Mineral and Petroleum Resources (MCMPR). The Council of Australian Governments' (COAG) Standing Council on Energy and Resources (SCER) is now responsible for progressing the key reform elements of the former MCMPR and the Ministerial Council on Energy and pursuing priority issues of national significance in the energy and resources sectors. Initial development of the National Mine Safety Framework was undertaken by the Chief Inspectors of Mines.
The development and implementation of the Framework is now under the direction of a Steering Group established by the Ministerial Council. For further information and to provide input into the consultation process established for the development of National Mine Safety Framework go to the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism website.
