Application Description
Earthquake Mapping Tool
The earthquake mapping tool allows you to: * view recent earthquakes which occurred over the past 30 days * search and explore all Australian earthquakes * search and explore earthquakes worldwide * view seismograms of earthquakes over the past 90 days * advise Geoscience Australia when you have felt a recent earthquake.
Neotectonic Features Database
This database contains information on faults, folds and other features within Australia that are believed to relate to large earthquakes during the Neotectonic Era (i.e. the past 5-10 million years). The neotectonic feature mapping tool allows you to: * search and explore Australian neotectonic features * create a report for a feature of interest * download feature data and geometries as a csv file or kml file * advise Geoscience Australia if you have any feedback, or wish to propose a new feature.
Australian Flood Studies Database
A Flood Study is a comprehensive technical investigation of flood behaviour. It defines the nature and extent of flooding across the landscape by providing information such as the extent, level and velocity of floodwaters and the distribution of flood flows. The Australian Flood Studies Database provides metadata on Australian flood studies and information on flood risk. It contains general information for all studies, including the study location, date, commissioning organisation and lead consultant. Additional information reflects the scope of each flood study. The types of additional information which may be included fall into nine categories, including hydrological estimates, hydraulic modelling, damage assessments, terrain survey, survey of building floor levels, maps of inundation extent, maps of flood hazard, flood mitigation strategies and post flood information. Where available, attachments of the flood studies and associated reports are included. The ownership of each Flood Study remains with the commissioning organisation and/or author as indicated with each study, and users of the database should refer to the reports themselves to determine any constraints in their usage. The database uses boundary datasets that are published by other agencies: - Catchment Area Data Source: Geofabric 2011 (V2.0.1) data Commonwealth of Australia (Bureau of Meteorology) 2011 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/au/deed.en - Local Government Area Data Source: Australian Bureau of Statistics 2011, Local Government Areas ASGS Non ABS Structures Ed 2011 Digital Boundaries in ESRI Shapefile Format, cat. no. 1270.0.55.003, retrieved 18 October 2012
Earthquake Risk Modelling Software Application
Earthquake Risk Model (EQRM) is capable of earthquake scenario ground motion and scenario loss modeling as well as probabilistic seismic hazard (PSHA) and risk (PSRA) modeling. It is a product of Geoscience Australia an Australian Government Agency.
ANUGA Inundation Modelling Application
ANUGA is a software implementation of a hydrodynamic model which is specifically designed to model wetting and drying processes. ANUGA is a joint development project between Geoscience Australia (GA) and the Australian National University (ANU).
International Best Track Archive for Climate Stewardship
Providing tropical cyclone best track data in a centralized location to aid our understanding of the distribution, frequency, and intensity of tropical cyclones worldwide.
Nuclear Explosions Database Application
Geoscience Australia maintains a database of nuclear explosions with the location, time and size of explosions around the world since 1945.
