Australia Marine Data Group Metadata Document Type Definition - Extension to the ANZMETA DTD v1.2.

The mdgmeta-1.2.dtd extends the ANZMETA DTD v1.2 to suit the Marine and Coastal communitites requirements for a marine and coastal thematic metadata system. The Marine Data Group (MDG) is the group that governs the contents of the metadta fields. This Document Type Definition (DTD) represents those requirements in in a structured format that is 100% compliant with the ANZLIC guidelines for metadata. This extension to the ANZMETA DTD v1.2 is a "page 1" extension.

| name | zero or more inline elements | A name of a person. The MDG thought that this was very useful for identifying a person in a position especially if that position has been changed or elliminated. If the person is still at an department then their knowledge can still be obtained. |

| acknowl | zero or more flow elements | An acknowledgement statement for the dataset acknowledging the custodians contribution. |
| person | Made up of name, cntemail and cntorg elements. | The name, contact email and contact organisation of a person. |
| datacont | New catagory made up of parametr, equip, habitat and taxgrp elements and the local.mdg.datacont.content entity. | This new category allows the data content information about a dataset to be entered into the metadata. |
| parametr | Made up of pname, samplmet and samplint elements. | The parameters that are measured in the dataset. These have a one to one relationship with the sampling method and sampling intensity. |
| pname | zero or more inline elements | The name of the parameter that is being measured in the dataset. |
| samplmet | zero or more inline elements | The sampling method used to measure the parameter. |
| samplint | zero or more inline elements | The intensity or frequency of the sampling method for the parameter. |
| equip | zero or more inline elements | The equipment used to measure the attributes within the dataset. |
| habitat | zero or more inline elements | The habitat where the dataset is located and which relates to the measured parameters. |
| taxgrp | zero or more inline elements | The taxonomic group of the measured parameters. |
| proginfo | Made up of proname, person and platform elements and the local.mdg.proginfo.content entity. | This new category allows the programme information about the dataset to be entered into the metadata. |
| proname | zero or more inline elements | The name of the programme over riding this dataset. |
| platform | zero or more inline elements | The name of the platform from which the infromation was gatheres. |
| pubinfo | Made up of docref and online elements. | This new category allows the publication information relating to the dataset to be entered into the metadata. |
| docref | zero or more inline elements | Any document citations relating to this dataset. |
| online | zero or more inline elements | ANy online links to data or other HTML documents relating to the dataset. |
