The city of Bathurst is located in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales on the Macquarie River. These images were acquired from the Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper sensor. True and false colour images for both a recent (2010), and an older (1988) scene are available below in high resolution JPEG format.

Bathurst Bathurst

In this false colour swipe comparison, the extent of the urban areas of Bathurst are highlighted in purple. Vegetation appears as light green to yellow, with drier areas appearing lighter. Water is displayed as dark blue to black. Bathurst has seen extensive growth in most directions of the town. Most prominently growth has been in the areas of Kelso in the east, Robin Hill and Mount Panorama to the west, and Abercrombie in the north. The Macquarie River is also flowing stronger in the 2010 image. Furthermore the extent of healthy vegetation near the river and the surrounding flood plains has increased.
