The dominant bright green areas in this image indicate healthy grasses and agricultural cultivation. Riverbeds and watercourses show up as a purple colour which indicates they have little if any water in them. When water is present, it is indicated by the colour blue. As the wet season approaches, many of these purple riverbeds will show up as blue riverbeds.

Ainaro lies in the centre of this image, indicated by the purple colours. The ETM Plus Sensor on board the satellite can detect infrared radiation which is released by fires - this shows up as red areas on the image. There is a faintly visible smoke plume evident across the riverbed in the centre of the image.
