	The nation's capital city was founded in 1913 which makes it a young city even by Australian standards. The planned layout and urban landscape reflect the city's major role as the seat of Federal Parliament and home to the national institutions that support it.

Canberra's elevated inland location to the east of the rugged Brindabella Ranges, gives it a cooler climate than most of the state capitals.
