Local Ties between Space Geodetic Techniques

The combination of Space Geodetic techniques is fundamental to the definition of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF). An integral component of this combination is the accurately measured and expressed connection between the different space geodetic techniques, commonly referred to as the local tie. Our ambition is to observe each local tie at an accuracy level of 1-2 mm.

• IERS Working Group 2, Site Survey and Co-location Group will evaluate the approaches used currently for site survey, including observational techniques, network design, classical adjustment, geometrical modelling and/or direct measurement techniques for invariant point determination, reference frame alignment, software implementation and SINEX generation.
