Onshore Deep Seismic Traverses and selected cross sections (National Geoscience Dataset)Note : This dataset description is metadata (data about data) which describes the actual dataset in accordance with the ANZLIC (Australia New Zealand Land Information Council) Core Metadata Guidelines Version 2. Dataset citationANZLIC unique identifier: ANZCW0703002405Title: Onshore Deep Seismic Traverses and selected cross sections (National Geoscience Dataset) CustodianCustodian: Geoscience AustraliaJurisdiction: Australia DescriptionAbstract: This dataset shows where Geoscience Australia has done deep seismic reflection traverses in Australia. It is generated from a database containing coordinates of all onshore seismic traverses recorded since 1964. Selected scanned seismic sections from most of the seismic surveys are also available with this dataset. ANZLIC search words and qualifiers:Geographic extent name: AUSTRALIA EXCLUDING EXTERNAL TERRITORIES - AUS - Australia Note: The format for each Geographic extent name is: Name - Identifier - Category - Jurisdiction (as appropriate) See GEN Register Geographic bounding box: Data currencyBeginning date: 1976-01-01Ending date: 2002-01-25 Dataset statusProgress: CompleteMaintenance and update frequency: continual AccessStored data format:Available data format: Access constraints: Free to download Data qualityLineage:Seismic station coordinates which are all surveyed points, to 3rd order surveying standard, are extracted from the database containing Geoscience Australia's onshore seismic traverses. This ASCII file data is used to create a line coverage in ArcInfo, adding the seismic line name coding, as well as feature and ufi (necessary QA/QC items). Selected scanned sections are also included with the dataset the names of which are hard coded into the coverage for hotlinking. Positional accuracy: Nominal Scale 1:10,000 Seismic station coordinates are all surveyed points, to 3rd order surveying standard and are extracted from a database so positional accuracy is high.
Additional attributes will be added in the near future.
