Geoscience Australia plays an important role in increasing our nation's capacity to deal with an ongoing threat from natural hazards. Historically, landslides have caused loss of life and significant damage to property and infrastructure. While natural disaster events cannot be averted, their consequences can be minimised by implementing mitigation strategies and reducing the potential impact to areas which are most vulnerable. Geoscience Australia has capabilities in modelling, and providing government and other agencies information and tools to analyse natural hazard risk and impacts.
