As part of APS Innovation Week, Geoscience Australia will be hosting several special public events to showcase some of the latest scientific innovations being used to help uncover Australia's hidden mineral wealth and monitor earthquakes.

New insights from recent geological studies by Geoscience Australia has increased the geological knowledge of several onshore petroleum exploration regions in Western Australia, which may have implications for the discovery of mineral and petroleum resources in these regions.

The Minister for Resources and Energy has formally released new offshore petroleum exploration areas at the annual APPEA conference.  Geoscience Australia has also released the latest available Australian gas resource figures.
