Help/How to navigate the Harris Greenstone Belt Online GISMost of this page is applicable to both the java and no-java versions of the application. Help specifically for the java application is written in italics. This page is best viewed at 1024 x 768 resolution, with at least 32768 colours. This mapping system allows the user to add a variety of themes, zoom in and out, pan, and select the attributes of displayed themes. Please note that some layers have a display scale threshold. e.g. Map symbols only display when zoomed in at scales greater than 1:250,000. The mapping system starts with the lakes theme (vector) active (this layer cannot be turned off) displayed over the magnetics (TMI) image. The user can add themes by selecting them from the menu at the left of the page. Basic navigation is done using the 4 buttons above or at the right of the image: (Holding the cursor over the icon displays the button function.)
By checking the checkboxes in the menu on the left the user can select multiple vector and raster themes to overlay on the map.
Click to reset the view to the full extent of the map. (Approximate scale 1:806,000)
The Overview map, at the bottom of the screen, shows the location of the main view (displayed as a black rectangle) in relationship to the regional locality of the map area.
