Geodatabase Rules

At 1:100 000 size and any other selection criteria apply to all feature occurrences.

At 1:250 000 size and any other selection criteria apply to new feature occurrences. All feature occurrences existing in the TOPO250K NTDB will be retained unless there is clear evidence they no longer exist.

Adjacent ponds will be shown as one polygon, separated by Settling pond internal lines. Settling pond internal lines less than 5 mm in length at map scale will not be shown within Aquaculture Areas.
 
Aquaculture Areas are to have an accompanying TextNote eg 'fish hatchery', ‘fish pen', 'aquaculture area’ unless the words 'fish hatchery', ‘fish pen' or 'aquaculture area’ are included in the name.  

Inter-Feature Relationship Rules - Internal to Associated Dataset

Aquaculture Area will be bounded by entities in the WaterbodyBoundaries feature class.

Aquaculture Area cannot overlap;
Other polygon features in the Waterbodies Dataset.

Inter-Feature Relationship Rules - External to Associated Dataset

Aquaculture Area cannot overlap;
Aviation (feature dataset), Sea, NativeVegetationAreas (feature class), CultivatedAreas (feature class).

Map Rules

Aquaculture Areas are to have an accompanying descriptive note eg 'fish hatchery', ‘fish pen', 'aquaculture area’ unless the words 'fish hatchery', ‘fish pen' or 'aquaculture area’ are included in the name.
