Mount Isa Inlier and Environs 1:500 000 GIS package (version 1.2)Note: This metadata describes the dataset in accordance with the ANZLIC (Australia New Zealand Land Information Council) Core Metadata Guidelines Version 2. Dataset citationANZLIC unique identifier: ANZCW0703002368 Title: Mount Isa Inlier and Environs 1:500 000 GIS package (version 1.2) CustodianCustodian: Geoscience Australia Jurisdiction: Australia DescriptionAbstract: The Mount Isa 1:500,000 GIS is based on the 'Mount Isa Inlier and Environs' 1:500 000 scale map (published in 1987), which was digitised and verified against Geochemical and Mineral Deposit point data. A series of interpretive geological and geochemical coverages were derived from these map data and point datasets such as ROCKCHEM, OZCHRON and MINERAL DEPOSITS. Geophysical byte images (clipped from AGSO's national coverage) provide broad regional views showing the concealed extent of the province. ANZLIC search words:

Free Data DownloadData qualityLineage: The source of the data was the 'Mount Isa Inlier and Environs' 1:500 000 scale map (published in 1987), which was digitised and verified against Geochemical and Mineral Deposit point data. Geological coverages based on the 1:500 000 geological map were geology, faults, folds, lineaments and frame. Derived geological coverages were solid geology, inlier outline, tectonic subdivisions and metamorphic zones. Coverages derived from AGSO's whole rock geochemistry database derived the average whole rock data within each polygon. Two sets of coverages are available, one as only sampled polygons having a value, and two all polygons have a value with the value for unsampled polygons being the average value for that unit. Several interpretive geological coverages are included in which geological units are classified according to dominant rock type, mineralogy, sedimentary sequence, granite type etc. Geophysical byte images from AGSO regional database are gravity and magnetics. Positional accuracy: 500 m to 1000 m Attribute accuracy: Attributes are mostly a representation of information on the source maps and/or geoscientific knowledge at that time. They should be viewed in that context - some of the information/interpretation is old and may be incorrect/outdated. Logical Consistency: Data has been checked visually on plots and for topological consistency using in-house routines and Arcinfo/Arcview/ERmapper GIS software. As much as possible, every effort has been made to ensure that the accuracy and standards of the source data have been maintained. Completeness: The data are complete for nominated scale for intended use of 1:500,000. Contact information
