Data quality

Lineage:

This data is initially extracted from Well Completion Reports, they were then all loaded into the Oracle database by Geoscience Australia staff. Point data was exported from the Geoscience Australia Oracle database and then imported into ArcView as shape files.

Positional accuracy:

Nominal Scale 1:5 000 000

Some wells are older and their datum's are unknown or unavailable, therefore an accuracy error could be as high as 500m.

Attribute accuracy:

High

All the attribute data has been entered in by Geoscience Australia staff from Well Completion Reports (WCR). The accuracy is depended on human error or that of the WCR.

Logical Consistency:

All vector data has been visually checked for extraneous points and value added data.

Completeness:

All vector data and details are complete and verified.
