This data package is an archive of geospatially located and other digital data covering the southern Arunta region, a portion of the North Australia Project undertaken to understand elements with the North Australia Craton and its boundaries. It includes digital geospatial feature data and/or images for a number of 1:250 000 and 1:100 000 scale geological maps, mineral locations, geophysical images, company drill hole data and rock chip data, geochemistry and regional themes. It also includes publications and geospatial data relating to the mafic-ultramafic study module in the southern Arunta.

1:100 000 scale geological maps sourced from Bureau of Mineral Resources legacy mapping.

1:250 000 scale geological maps sourced from Bureau of Mineral Resources, or Australian Geological Survey Organisation legacy mapping.

1: 250 000 scale geological maps and interpreted geology sourced from post-2000 Northern Territory Geological Survey mapping programs.

Geophysical-dem-landsat images, geochemistry and mineral locations sourced from Geoscience Australia corporate stores.

Exploration company drill holes and geochemistry sourced from Northern Territory Geological Survey data bases.

Positional accuracy:

Not known precisely. For data generated from 1:100 000 scale mapping, assume errors of perhaps 50 metres to 200 metres. For data generated from 1:250 000 scale mapping, assume errors of perhaps 100 metres to 500 metres. Potential errors are generated at source, at compilation, and also during digital processing, and it is difficult to quality or quantify any positional errors which may have occurred in creating the geographically located data presented on this DVD. Field checks are not planned.

Attribute accuracy:

Cannot be qualified for this data. Mineral location data and geochemistry derived from Geoscience Australia Oracle tables has undergone internal QA/QC upon entry. Mineral location attributes are derived primarily from the Northern Territory MODAT data base. Attribute items for the digital geological maps do not meet any standard data dictionary. Attribute values have not been checked with any formal QA/QC process involving Geoscience Australia Oracle authority tables to substantiate 'real-world' relationships. Visual checks of printed maps have been performed on the legacy 1:250 000 digital geology sourced within Geoscience Australia and its former agencies.

Logical Consistency:

There has been no formal QA/QC performed on any of the digital data to assess logical consistency, apart from digital geology of the 1:100 000 mapping contained in the quartz, arltunga and strangways directories.
