Flinders Ranges Earthquakes 3D VRML Model 2007Note: This metadata describes the dataset in accordance with the ANZLIC (Australia New Zealand Land Information Council) Core Metadata Guidelines Version 2. Dataset citationANZLIC unique identifier: ANZCW0703009630 Title: Flinders Ranges Earthquakes 3D VRML Model 2007 CustodianCustodian: Geoscience Australia Jurisdiction: Australia DescriptionAbstract: During the period September 2003 - June 2005, Geoscience Australia and Primary Industry and Resources, South Australia (PIRSA) collaborated in a temporary seismograph deployment in the Flinders Ranges region. This deployment consisted of about 18 stations spaced at roughly 30 km intervals. Among the questions about the Flinders Ranges region which this deployment was intended to address were: Which faults are seismically active? What is the depth of the seismogenic crust? Is the earthquake ground motion similar to other parts of Australia? How can the regional stress field be characterised? Over 500 locatable earthquakes were recorded within the network and surrounding areas. This 3D model displays these earthquakes at their true three dimensional location. These data are currently being analysed to determine what their relationship may be to faults, what constraint they place on the crustal stress field, and how earthquake waves propagate in the geologic environment of the Adelaide Fold Belt. Positional accuracy: Positional accuracy varies with data sources and according to map scale of compilation, i.e. for legacy data compiled at 1:250 000 scale, positional accuracy is generally limited to around 250 metres. In most instances, it is impossible to predict positional accuracy with confidence. Attribute accuracy: Every effort has been made to ensure that features are attributed so that they are fit-for-use, and not necessarily compliant with any data dictionary version such as that constructed by Geoscience Australia. Geological themes have generally been constructed to comply with a version of the GA data dictionary. Logical Consistency: The test applied to consistency is fit-for-use, not necessarily compliant with a given standard. Every effort has been made to ensure that themes and layers within themes have been constructed to be logically consistent by following process standards. Completeness: This is a complete version of the Flinders Ranges Earthquakes 3D VRML Model Contact information
