Offshore Acreage Release 2007 3D VRML ModelsNote: This metadata describes the dataset in accordance with the ANZLIC (Australia New Zealand Land Information Council) Core Metadata Guidelines Version 2. Dataset citationANZLIC unique identifier: ANZCW0703009748 Title: Offshore Acreage Release 2007 3D VRML Models CustodianCustodian: Geoscience Australia Jurisdiction: Australia DescriptionAbstract: The regular release of offshore acreage is a key part of the Australian Government's strategy to encourage investment in petroleum exploration. This CD product contains six interactive 3D VRML models of the 2007 acreage release areas and was created for distribution at the 2007 APPEA conference and for later distribution via the web. Access constraints: Accessibility free via web browser. This edition of the model is presented in VRML format. Free Data DownloadData qualityLineage: The extent of the 2007 release areas has been decided upon by Australian Federal Government Departments (GA and ITR) in conjunction with the relevant State Government Departments. The 2007 release areas were originally digitally captured in ArcGis 9.0(ESRI).The latitudes and longitudes of the area polygons were accurately plotted with a geographic co-ordinate system, using the WGS84 datum. Other data within the models has been supplied by Geoscience Australia's Petroleum and Marine Division and from standard GA datasets such as the Geodata 250k product. Positional accuracy: Positional accuracy varies with data sources and according to map scale of compilation, i.e. for legacy data compiled at 1:250 000 scale, positional accuracy is generally limited to around 250 metres. In most instances, it is impossible to predict positional accuracy with confidence. This product should be used for visualisation purposes only. Attribute accuracy: Every effort has been made to ensure that features are attributed so that they are fit-for-use, and not necessarily compliant with any data dictionary version such as that constructed by Geoscience Australia. Geological themes have generally been constructed to comply with a version of the GA data dictionary. Logical Consistency: The test applied to consistency is fit-for-use, not necessarily compliant with a given standard. Every effort has been made to ensure that themes and layers within themes have been constructed to be logically consistent by following process standards. Completeness: This is a complete version of the Offshore Acreage Release 2007 3D VRML Models. Some information within the model is regularly updated.Data completeness is at 17th March 2007 and Geoscience Australia should be contacted for the most recent permit and release area information.
