Geoscience Australia SHRIMP U-Pb Geochronology Interim Data Release July 2007Note: This metadata describes the dataset in accordance with the ANZLIC (Australia New Zealand Land Information Council) Core Metadata Guidelines Version 2. Dataset citationANZLIC unique identifier: ANZCW0703010955 Title: Geoscience Australia SHRIMP U-Pb Geochronology Interim Data Release July 2007 CustodianCustodian: Geoscience Australia Jurisdiction: Australia DescriptionAbstract: These data represent the OZCHRON database of age determinations on Australian rock samples as determined by the uranium-lead SHRIMP (Senstive High Resolution Ion MicroProbe) method. These data are a snapshot of the database at the "Ending-Date", although entry into the database is continuous. This product is intended as an interim form of data release while web-based accessibility to continually updated data is reformed during FY07-08. ANZLIC search words:

Geographic extent name: AUSTRALIA EXCLUDING EXTERNAL TERRITORIES - AUS - Australia - Australia Geographic extent polygon: 114 -12, 150 -12, 150 -42, 114 -42, 114 -12, Note: The format for each Geographic extent name is: Name - Identifier - Category - Jurisdiction (as appropriate) See GEN Register
Data currencyBeginning date: 1995-01-01 Ending date: 2007-07-01 Dataset statusProgress: In Progress Maintenance and update frequency: Not Known Access
Access constraints: unknown Free Data DownloadData qualityLineage: These data are derived directly from Geoscience Australia's corporate Oracle OZCHRON database for U-Pb ages derived using the SHRIMP method. An ASCII extraction of the database is generated as ASCII comma separated values (CSV). Positional accuracy: Nominal scale: 1:100 000 The positional accuracy is variable, but typically not better than 100 metres. Attribute accuracy: The geochronological data comes from sample data analysed by the Geoscience Australia Geochronological Laboratory or from published literature. Data have been checked in the database against the original source. Logical Consistency: A geoscientist visually inspected the finished dataset to ensure the attributes were accurate and the data were consistent spatially with the quality-controlled database it was derived from. Completeness: The dataset coverage is complete for the whole of continental Australia. Contact information
