Description

Abstract:

The Paterson drill hole data base was compiled to constrain interpretation of airborne electromagnetic data acquired over the outcropping province and immediate surrounds. The data were sourced from GSWA's WAMEX database while loges were captured from pdfs of exploration reports. The database contains locations for over 6500 drill holes with geological logs compiled for approximately 4300.

Data quality

Lineage:

The drill hole locations were compiled from the Geological Survey of Western Australia's (GSWA) WAMEX database. The digital geological logs were composed from openfile exploration reports held by GSWA in pdf format. The compilation was undertaken between August 2008 and July 2009.

Positional accuracy:

Positional accuracy for the holes compiled varies widely as the drilling, location and reporting occurred over a long period of time and drew on differing technologies and standards. The topic is discussed in more detail in the accompanying GA Record

Attribute accuracy:

The attribute accuracy is determined by the quality of the source geological logs and varies widely.

Logical Consistency:

The consistency of the content of the database is limited by the varying standards of content in the source geological logs - see report for more detail.

Completeness:

The database is not a complete compilation of known holes: shallow drill holes (<20m) were ignored; company supplied confidential data has not been included; and through time constraints, geological logs were compiled for only 4300 of the 6500 located open file drill holes . Some effort was made to acquire spatial representstion of drill holes at the expense of clustered holes at project sites.
