Description

Abstract:

Airborne Electromagnetic (AEM) data were acquired by Geoscience Australia (GA) in areas

considered to have potential for uranium or thorium mineralisation under the Australian

Government's Onshore Energy Security Program (OESP). The surveys were managed by

Geoscience Australia's AEM Acquisition and Interpretation Project. The Frome Embayment

AEM survey was flown using the TEMPESTTM AEM system from 19 May to 2 November 2010.

The data acquisition and data processing were carried out by Fugro Airborne Surveys (FAS) under

contract to GA. A description of the dataset is contained in the contents document within this data

release.

The survey consists of regional lines flown at a line spacing of 5 km, with infill lines flown at a

line spacing of 2.5 km. The survey consists of approximately 32,300 line km covering an area of

95,000 km2. Approximately 3,200 line km of infill data were funded by the Department of

Primary Industry and Resources South Australia (PIRSA).

This data release contains the infill block referred to as the 'C1 Subscription' infill. Under the

terms of agreement between the private company and GA, the C1 Subscription lines were

embargoed until a confidentiality moratorium period ended in April 2012. The map below shows

the Frome survey boundary, and the C1 Subscription Infill area. Both the Phase-1 contractor

supplied data and the Phase-2 GA inversion conductivity data for the infill area C1 Subscription

area are included in this data release.

Data quality

Lineage:

The release contains inversion conductivity models derived from the Frome AEM survey data, released in March 2011. The inversion method and products are described in detail in the report, included in the dataset.

Positional accuracy:

Positioning was via post-processed differential GPS methods. Horizontal positional accuracy of the data is approximately 1 metre (standard deviation).

Attribute accuracy:

The AEM data from which the inversions are derived have been acquired and processed to a standard of best practice as of the year 2010. More sophisticated processing algorithms may be applied to these data should they become available.

Logical Consistency:

Not applicable.

Completeness:

The dataset contains all conductivity models generated from the publicly released Frome AEM survey data. The private infill data remains commercial-in-confidence, and will be released in April 2012.
