Hydrogeological basement units in contact with the Great Artesian BasinNote: This metadata describes the dataset in accordance with the ANZLIC (Australia New Zealand Land Information Council) Core Metadata Guidelines Version 2. Dataset citationANZLIC unique identifier: ANZCW0703016657 Title: Hydrogeological basement units in contact with the Great Artesian Basin CustodianCustodian: Geoscience Australia Jurisdiction: Australia DescriptionAbstract: Polgons representing Hydrogeological basement (base of the Jurassic-Cretaceous sequence) units in contact with base of the Great Artesian Basin. Compiled by Bruce Radke and used in conjuction with 'Great Artesian Basin hydrogeological units directly overlying the basement (base of the Jurassic-Cretaceous sequence)' to represent the hydraulic interconnection between the Great Artesian Basin and basement units. Stratigraphic point control was provided by borehole lithostratigraphic picks from QPED, PIRSA, GABLOG, as well as lithostratigraphic picks for the Clarence-Moreton Basin by Phil O'Brien. Where there was a paucity of well data available, the interpreted lithostratigraphy was taken from the following sources: Carpentaria Basin offshore: McConachie et al. (1997) Carpentaria Basin onshore: Mapping by Smart et al.(1980). Coonamble Embayment: 1:250 000 geological maps for eastern margin; Kellett pers.comm. for the western margin Poolowanna Trough: Cotton et al., (2006) METHODS: Hand drawn transparency interpretations were scanned. Scanned images were rectified within ArcGIS and vectorised into linework using the ArcScan toolset. Polygons were then generated from the vectorised linework and were attributed with a code name withing the field "Hydro_code". This field was used to symbolise the dataset.
