Abstract

This Record contains new zircon U-Pb geochronological data obtained via Sensitive High-Resolution Ion Micro Probe (SHRIMP) from 6 samples of plutonic igneous rocks of the Eastern and Western Tasmania Terranes. These data were obtained during the reporting period July 2012-June 2013, under the auspices of the collaborative Geochronology Project between the Mineral Resources of Tasmania (MRT) and Geoscience Australia (GA). The primary objective of this study is refining the regional chronology of mid-Palaeozoic felsic magmatism in Tasmania, following on from the extensive U-Pb SHRIMP zircon study of Black et al. (2005). In a few cases, the samples were chosen because of economic importance, or to help resolve regional problems. Five samples were analysed from the Eastern Tasmanian Terrane and one sample from the Western Tasmanian Terrane.
