Onshore Energy and Minerals

Geoscience Australia provides pre-competitive geoscience information that supports and facilitates onshore energy and mineral exploration in Australia. This is achieved through integrated programs of data gathering and assessment, conducted at the national and regional scale. We undertake activities of national strategic importance such as the five-year Onshore Energy Security Program which runs until mid 2011. We also coordinate promotional events for domestic and international mineral exploration, and advise the Australian Government on mineral resources, mining and land use. This work is integral to decisions regarding multiple and sequential land use: it also provides an understanding of the nation's known mineral endowment, the sustainable development of mineral resources, and levels of exploration activity.
