Mineral resources & occurrences

  • Australian Mines Atlas
Website containing Australian minerals and energy deposits, mines and processing centres which includes a map-making function.

  • Minerals Maps
Maps by geological regions showing Australian deposits, occurrences and potential for gold, nickel, copper, lead-zinc and diamond. Download the maps as images or PDFs.

  • Minerals related publications
    Includes Australia's Identified Mineral Resources.

  • Geoscience Portal
A web-portal to geoscience information and links to online databases from the Australian, State and Northern Territory governments.

  • Mineral Tenements Map
An interactive map search tool to find tenement information across Australia which is updated monthly.

Regional mineral systems studies

  • Regional Projects
Results of current detailed regional geoscientific studies of geology and mineral systems in partnership with relevant States and the Northern Territory in the Tanami, Gawler, and Paterson regions. There are also details of archived regional projects.

  • Regional online mapping systems
Many of Geoscience Australia's projects are detailed studies of particular regions of Australia. Online GIS/Mapping applications often are outputs of these projects which can be used to assist with the interpretation of the datasets.

Geophysics

  • Geophysical Archive Data Delivery System (GADDS)
A map-enabled tool to selectively partition and download magnetic, radiometric, gravity and elevation data from national, State and Northern Territory surveys. Data is available in both grid and vector formats.

  • Airborne Surveys Database (ARGUS)
The airborne magnetics and gamma-ray spectrometrics database contains digitised and reprocessed versions of analogue strip charts produced prior to 1968 (where quality warrants this). Boundary data are updated biannually.

  • Geophysical Maps
Find geophysical maps including Digital Elevation Model of Australia, magnetic anomaly and gravity anomaly maps as well as index maps of magnetic, gamma-ray and gravity stations.

  • National Geoscience Datasets GIS
View national geoscience themes, including the geophysics theme which incorporates aeromagnetics, crustal temperature, gravity, geomagnetism, seismic information and others. This data also are available as a free download or as an Open GIS Consortium Web Mapping Service.

Geochemistry

  • OZCHEM National Whole Rock Geochemistry Data
Download current field geology and geochemistry data derived from Geoscience Australia's databases.

  • Virtual Centre for Geofluids and Thermodynamic Data
The Virtual Centre for Geofluids and Thermodynamic data consists of the Fluids Inclusions database storing data on the composition of geofluids and the FreeGs Database which stores data on thermodynamic properties of geologically important substances such as minerals, gases and aqueous species.

  • FreeGs Thermodynamic Calculator
The FreeGs Thermodynamic Calculator allows database queries and calculations on selected species as well as thermodynamic properties of reactions stored in the FreeGs database. It also allows for a list of chemical reactions composed of database species to be retained and calculations based on them to be carried out.
