Access conditions
- The Commonwealth has copyright over Geoscience Australia's digital geophysical data.
- An organisation or individual obtains a licence to use a copy of these data for its exclusive use and these data may not be transmitted in any form to a third party except with the permission of the CEO of Geoscience Australia (see below).
- An organisation or individual wishing to access the digital database must forward their requests in writing and be as specific as possible on data requirements. CD-Rom, magnetic tapes or disks damaged in transit or otherwise suspected of being faulty must be returned to the Geoscience Australia within 30 days, otherwise a new service fee may be applied for their replacement.
- Any publications resulting from the use of these data must give due acknowledgement to Geoscience Australia.
- An organisation or individual may, with the permission of the CEO, reprocess Geoscience Australia data and market products thus derived on a multi-client basis. Generally, the organisation or individual would be required to enter into an agreement with Geoscience Australia which would include the following:
- The Commonwealth will retain copyright of the original data.
- A copy of the product(s) will be supplied to Geoscience Australia.
- Geoscience Australia will claim a licence fee for each copy of the product sold.
- After a specified period of time the right to copy or sell the product(s) may be exercised by the Commonwealth.
- Geoscience Australia has endeavoured to use techniques and equipment to achieve results and information as accurately as possible. However such equipment and techniques are not necessarily perfect. Geoscience Australia has not and does not make any warranty, statement or representation about the accuracy and completeness of any information provided. You should not rely solely on this information when considering issues which may have commercial implications.
