Mineral Potential of Australia

Project description

The Mineral Potential project is engaged in a GIS based national 1:2.5 million scale assessment of the potential for undiscovered mineral resources in Australia.

Regional scale assessments of potential mineral resources at scales of 1:250 000 to 1:1 million are being carried out as required. Assessments are usually carried out in consultation with the State and Northern Territory Geological Surveys.

The project also provides advice and reports on potential undiscovered mineral resources to facilitate informed policy decisions on land use, including land access for mineral exploration and mining, in response to requests from Australian Government agencies.
