1. Tanami Seismic Workshop

On 20-22 June 2006, Geoscience Australia convened a seminar in Alice Springs entitled "Evolution and Metallogenesis of the North Australian Craton" with speakers from Geoscience Australia, the Northern Territory Geological Survey, and the Geological Survey of Western Australia. The highlight of the conference was a one-day workshop on the 2005 Tanami Seismic Collaborative Research Project, during which first-pass structural interpretations of four seismic traverses across the Tanami Region were presented and discussed for the first time.

2. Update on geophysical data releases

Datasets can be downloaded from the Geoscience Australia Geophysical Archive Data Delivery System (GADDS) facility at no charge.

3. Update on geophysical survey data acquisition

The Ashburton and Officer Basin (WA) airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys and the Isa B (QLD) gravity survey are scheduled to commence in July.

4. Minerals Maps available on-line

An extensive range of maps, including the Australian Mines and Mineral Deposit Map, Gold, Nickel, Copper, Lead-Zinc and Uranium resources maps relevant to mineral exploration in Australia are available for download free of charge from the Geoscience Australia web site. Please visit our Minerals Maps of Australia page to download. Also available free of charge are the Scanned 1:250 000 Geology Maps of Australia.
