Northern Western Australia project

Project description

The Northern Western Australia project will acquire, process and interpret pre-competitive geoscience information related to energy resources in the northern part of Western Australia, to help identify prospectivity and to promote the new data and results to industry.


Project objectives

Enhanced global attractiveness of Australian exploration investment opportunities in the northern part of Western Australia.


Project outcome

Increased investment in exploration for onshore energy-related resources, particularly geothermal, thorium and uranium, within the northern part of Western Australia and improve Australia’s discovery rates for onshore energy-related resources.


Project outputs 2007/08

  • Compilation and analysis of available geological and geophysical information delivered as GIS layers and spreadsheets and/or online databases;
  • Geoscience Australia publication outlining the energy-related scientific questions to be addressed by the project and the tools to be employed; and
  • preparation of a progress report on Airborne Electromagnetic data acquisition and processing.
