1. Southern Thomson Orogen Project VTEMplus AEM Survey Phase 2 data release

The Phase 2 data release package contains results from the electromagnetic inversion of the data in the Phase 1 release (18 August 2014). The inversion results were generated using two different types of algorithm, a deterministic regularized gradient-based algorithm, which we call GALEISBS, and a reversible-jump Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm, which we call GArjMcMC. Point-located ASCII data and GIS-ready interpretation products for both inversions are now available from the Geoscience Australia Airborne Electromagnetics web page.

2. New data builds understanding of Australia's precious soil resources

Researchers from across Australia have joined together to develop a comprehensive set of digital maps of the country's soil and landscape attributes. The information  will support a spectrum of natural science research, agricultural production,  environmental management and infrastructure development applications, from  continental scale down to regional and farm scales.

The maps are provided for free. Users can view the maps in different ways via the website and can also download partial or full datasets through CSIRO's online Data Access Portal.

Read more in the Geoscience Australia Highlights article.

3. Update on geophysical data releases

Geoscience Australia is managing the geophysical data acquisition programs in Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The current status of Geoscience Australia's geophysical survey data acquisition is available in a comprehensive table.
