1. New geochemistry data released for the Stavely region of western Victoria

New pre-competitive geochemistry data for the Stavely region in western Victoria has recently been released as part of the collaborative Geoscience Australia-Geological Survey of Victoria Stavely Project. Data presented in this release include whole rock geochemistry, four acid digestion analysis, partial extraction techniques (soil gas hydrocarbon, Mobile Metal IonTM, Ionic LeachTM), sulphur isotope analysis, neodymium isotope analysis, lead isotope analysis, chromite analysis and pyrite analysis. Also included are reports on spatiotemporal geochemical hydrocarbon interpretation, chromite petrology and pyrite characterisation. An accompanying report describes the geochemical methods and procedures used. These results provide the first geochemical data for parts of the largely-buried Stavely Arc, which is prospective for a range of arc-related mineral systems, and present geochemical evidence suggesting the potential for future mineral discoveries in the region. The data and report are available for free download from the Stavely Project website.

2. Exploring for the Future: North Australian Airborne Electromagnetic Survey 2017

Geoscience Australia is planning a program of regional airborne electromagnetic mapping between the Tennant Creek and Mount Isa regions of the Northern Territory and Queensland. Funded by the Australian Government's Exploring for the Future Programme, the survey will consist of 20km spaced lines over parts of the Newcastle Waters, Alice Springs, Normanton and Cloncurry 1:1,000,000 standard map sheets. The EOI closes at COB AEDT on Friday 24 February 2017.

3. Update on geophysical data release

Geoscience Australia is managing the geophysical data acquisition programs in Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and the Northern Territory on behalf of the state/territory geological surveys.

The current status of Geoscience Australia's geophysical survey data acquisition is available in a comprehensive table.
