1. Release of new geochronology results from Queensland

A recently released report by Cross et al. presents new U-Pb SHRIMP zircon geochronology results from 24 samples from the Thomson Orogen, New England Orogen and Mount Isa regions of Queensland.

The report is available from the Geological Survey of Queensland website as Queensland Geological Record 2015/01 (Report Number 90983). The U-Pb data are also available for download from Geoscience Australia's Geochron Delivery System.

This work was conducted under the auspices of a National Collaborative Framework geochronology agreement between Geoscience Australia and the Geological Survey of Queensland. Zircon ages were acquired using Geoscience Australia's in-house Sensitive High Resolution Ion Microprobe (SHRIMP), and provide new constraints on the timing of magmatic and metamorphic events and on the provenance and depositional ages of sedimentary rocks.

2. Update on geophysical data releases

Geoscience Australia is managing the geophysical data acquisition programs in Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The current status of Geoscience Australia's geophysical survey data acquisition is available in a comprehensive table.
