Australian Spatial Data Infrastructure [ASDI]

Grants Program

The ASDI Partnership Grants Program ran for two financial years; 1999/2000 and 2000/2001. The program has been successful in gaining broader involvement in the ASDI's development, including raising awareness of its importance and benefits.

The objectives of the grants program were to:

  • Increase the awareness, understanding and benefits of the ASDI to a broad audience;
  • Develop standards based, inter-operable solutions for discovery, access and use of geospatial data in response to industry, environmental and socio-cultural needs; and
  • Use consortia or partnership based approaches (government, non government groups and industry sectors) to develop, maintain and make available through the Australian Spatial Data Directory, common collections of geospatial data to further encourage informed decision making and continuing development of the ASDI through projects.

Over the two years of the program, grants were awarded to nine recipients (grant recipients were required to provide a minimum of 25% of the cost of the project) to assist them fund projects.
