Project description

This project is preparing the technical case supporting definition of the outer limit of Australia’s extended continental shelf under Article 76 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Project outcome

Definition of the outer limit of the extended continental shelf around Australia and its external territories and the submission of the particulars of the outer limit and supporting information to the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf(CLCS).

Project outputs

  1. Advice, reports and maps related to maritime boundary negotiations and continental shelf definition around Australia and its external territories.
  2. Participation in the deliberations of the United Nations Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) and associated activities.
  3. A Geographic Information System (GIS) and supporting documentation comprising the technical part of Australia's submission for extended Continental Shelf.
