Exploration and Environmental Advice

Project description

This project provides technical advice under the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1967 to the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism and other government agencies and industry on petroleum exploration and environmental and marine issues as well as other upstream petroleum industry matters.

Project outcome

Improved scientific resource management and environmental protection by provision of scientific advice on petroleum exploration, environmental issues and other upstream petroleum matters.

Project outputs

• Provide scientific advice to government on environmental and regional marine planning issues, including advice under the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1967 (Management of Environment) regulations.
• Provide scientific advice to government on petroleum exploration under the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1967, and other upstream petroleum industry matters including prospectivity and resource assessment.
• Provide advice to the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism, other government agencies and industry, on petroleum industry activities in Australia, including delivery of Oil and Gas Resources of Australia.
