Project description

This project provides technical advice related to petroleum developments under the Offshore Petroleum Act and advice on petroleum reserves and production, carbon dioxide capture and geological storage as well as associated safety matters.

Project outcome

Improved resource management through the provision of engineering and scientific advice on petroleum developments and the extent and rate of production of Australia's identified petroleum resources

Project outputs

  • Provide advice about petroleum engineering identified resource issues, carbon dioxide capture and geological storage to agencies which administer the Offshore Petroleum Act, Excise Tariff Act, Petroleum Resource Rent Tax Assessment Act, Trade Practices Act and the Joint Petroleum Development Area;
  • contribute data on identified petroleum resources, development, production, forecasts and sufficiency to the publication Oil and Gas Resources of Australia; and
  • provide engineering, production and geological reports on Australian Petroleum Accumulations and carbon dioxide storage.
