Remote Eastern Frontiers

Project description

This project encompasses studies of basement terrain, structure and potential petroleum systems of the Capel, Faust, Moore, Monowai and Gower basins, within the Australian Marine Jurisdiction, as part of the Offshore Energy Security Program.

Project outcome

Less geological and environmental uncertainty in the search for a new petroleum province, through the provision of pre-competitive data and information.

Project outputs

  • Planning, scoping and acquiring reconnaissance geophysical and geological understanding of the petroleum prospectivity of the region.
  • Reports and maps that synthesise basement and tectonostratigraphic interpretations of geological and geophysical datasets from the Capel and Faust regions. These will improve understanding of the petroleum prospectivity of the region and underpin future marine planning.
