System Requirements for Entering Data Into Geoscience Australia's Database System

Please note: These requirements are only for data entry in Geoscience Australia's databases.

PC Requirements

Data entry into Geoscience Australia's database system is facilitated using Oracle Forms deployed as Java applets running in a Java enabled Web browser. The forms can be accessed using the Windows operating system and Internet Explorer only.

In order to run Oracle Forms on your PC, Oracle Jinitiator is downloaded to your machine the first time you access the forms. Jinitiator is a Java Virtual Machine plugin that has been optimised for running Oracle Forms inside Microsoft Internet Explorer on Windows platforms. The following specifications are required to run Jinitiator and Oracle Forms. Alternatively, download the Jinitiator now.

Minimum System Requirements

  • Pentium 90 mHz or better processor
  • 12 MB free hard disk space (recommended 20 MB)
  • 32 MB system RAM minimum
  • Windows 2000 or later

Software Requirements

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later
  • Oracle Jinitiator (automatically downloaded when using Oracle Forms)
