Note that all text fields are case insensitive. Wildcards such as * or ? can also be used.

Province name

Name:

Enter all or part of a province name. For example, "her" will find provinces with "her" in the name, like Herberton Igneous Subprovince or Hervey Basin.

Unique Id (ENO):

Enter all or part of a province's Entity Number. For example, 20555 or 055.

Sort by:

Make a selection from the list to sort the search query results. Sort options are "Province Name", "Province Parent Name", "Unique Id (ENO)", "Province Type", "Province Sub-Type", or "Province Rank".

Province age

Period:

Select a geological time period from the drop-down list.

Other age/zone:

Type in any age name (eg, Neoproterozoic, Gorstian, Eocene). Note that 'Early, Middle, Late' terminology is used for epoch names (eg, Late Devonian) not 'Upper, Middle, Lower'.

Province location

State or Territory:

To refine your province search to a particular Australian State or Territory, select it from the list. To select provinces from all states and Territories, select ALL (the default value for the list).

Location:

To refine your province search to on or off shore, select the appropriate value from the list.

Province type, subtype, rank, resources, max sediment thickness and max water depth

Type:

To refine your province search to a particular province type, select the type from the list.

Subtype:

To refine your province search to a particular province sub-type, Select the sub-type from the list.

Rank:

To refine your province search to a particular provnce rank, select the rank from the list.

Resources:

To refine your province search to major province resources, select the resource from the list.

Max sediment thickness:

To refine your province search to a sediment thickness range, select a range from the list. Provinces whose maximum sediment thickness falls into the selected range will be returned.

Max water depth:

To refine your province search to provinces within a water depth range, select a range from the list. Provinces whose maximum water depth falls into the selected range will be returned.

Action buttons for provinces explorer query

Search:

Select the Submit button to display the provinces that meet the search criteria and filters you selected as a table.
To view all provinces, select the Submit button without entering any search criteria.

Clear Form:

Select the Clear button to remove all query terms and filters from the page and remove all layers from the map.

Map Results:

Select the 'Map results' button to display the provinces that meet the search criteria and filters you selected on the map.

Province relationships

You can include additional provinces in your query results by selecting one or more of the following:

Parent:

The parent province of each province satisfying your search criteria will be included in the display of your search results.

Child:

Child provinces of each province satisfying your search criteria will be included in the display of your search results.

Adjoins:

Provinces adjoining each province satisfying your search criteria will be included in the display of your search results.

Interfingers:

Provinces interfingering each province satisfying your search criteria will be included in the display of your search results.

Intrudes:

Provinces intruding upon each province satisfying your search criteria will be included in the display of your search results.

Intrudes and Overlies:

Provinces intruding upon and overlying provinces satisfying your search criteria will be included in the display of your search results.

Overlies:

Provinces overlying provinces satisfying your search criteria will be included in the display of your search results.

Underlies:

Provinces underlying provinces satisfying your search criteria will be included in the display of your search results.
