MDA RADARSAT Prices

All prices quoted are inclusive of GST. The GST is applicable to Australian customers only. Prices to overseas customers are GST free and can be calculated by dividing each price listed by 1.1.

Please note: All prices are subject to variation without notice and are quoted in Australian Dollars.

This RADARSAT price list relates to products and services offered by MDA Geospatial Services, formerly RADARSAT International (RSI), available through Geoscience Australia. This includes access to MDA's archive of worldwide RADARSAT data.

Archive and coverage

Worldwide coverage of data, including Australia, is available by the use of on-board recorders. All products are sourced from MDA Geospatial Services of Vancouver, Canada.

The RADARSAT data archive was begun in early 1996. Due to the large variety of imaging modes possible from RADARSAT, most customer requirements are expected to be for future acquisitions of data. A RADARSAT Australian Mosaic is available for purchase as either a digital product or as a poster.

Future acquisitions

MDA charge for all future acquisitions. Prices vary from $US100 for basic programming to $US1,000 for emergency programming.

Data processing

The prices below cover regular processing by MDA within 14 days of reception and are subject to change by MDA Geospatial Services. Faster turnaround times are available for an additional charge. Please contact Earth Observation Client Services for more details.

Photographic data

Photographic products are available with pricing and size details available on application. All photographic products must be accompanied by digital data.

Radarsat processing levels

Path Image

Path Image processing aligns the image parallel to the satellite's orbit path. Latitude and longitude positional information has been added to represent the first, mid and last pixel positions of each line of data. The data is also calibrated.

Path Image Plus

The difference between Path Image and Path Image Plus processing lies in the procedure used to calibrate the data. Path Image Plus uses a smaller pixel spacing to retain full RADARSAT beam mode resolution, which will enhance your ability to measure point targets. However, it will create a digital file which is considerably larger than a Path Image product.

Map Image

Map Image processing orients the image with NORTH-UP and corrects the image to a user-requested map projection. RADARSAT offers 23 map projections. The positional accuracy of Map Image processing depends on the terrain relief and the beam mode.

Precision Map Image

Precision Map Image processing provides even greater positional accuracy than Map Image processing. Ground Control Points (GCPs) as well as a map projection are used to spatially align the image. Please note: For areas outside of Canada and the United States, suitably scaled maps or GCPs must be provided by the customer.

Signal Data

Signal Data cannot be viewed as an image. It is an unprocessed matrix of time delays which has been repackaged to fit into standard CEOS format. Customers will require SAR processing capabilities to use Signal Data.

Single Look Complex

At the Single Look Complex processing level, data is stored in slant range, has been corrected for satellite reception errors, includes latitude/longitude positional information and is calibrated. In addition, Single Look Complex data retains the optimum resolution available for each beam mode and the phase and amplitude information of the original SAR data.
