Geodesy Data and Applications
- National Geodetic Database (NGDB)
The NGDB is a national archive of 25,000 geodetic survey marks of national interest and historical importance in Australia and its external territories (including Antarctica).
- Australian Height Datum (AHD)
Geoscience Australia maintains an archive of the basic Australian Height Datum (AHD) network. State and territory agencies can supply recent and additional information for their area of responsibility.
- Astronomical Information:
- Compute your own sunrise/sunset and moonrise/moonset times.
- Compute your own sun and moon asimuth and elevation.
- Browse moon phase and planet data for the major Australian cities.
- If required, certificates for astronomical phenomena can also be provided.
- Online GPS Processing Service (AUSPOS)
Upload your RINEX file data, the application will return the solution by email.
- AUSGEOID
AUSGeoid98 is the latest in a series of national geoid models for Australia produced by Geoscience Australia. You can also Compute an N value.
- Australian Regional GPS Network (ARGN)
The ARGN consists of 15 permanent geodetic quality GPS receivers on geologically stable marks in Australia and its external territories.
These sites provide the geodetic framework for the spatial data infrastructure in Australia and its external territories. Data from these sites contributes to the International GPS Service (IGS) and provides input for the measurement of earth processes, such as crustal dynamics and sea level rise.
- Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) Network
Satellite laser ranging solutions are computed monthly. These monthly solutions are submitted to the International Earth Rotation Service (IERS).
- Geodetic Calculation Methods
Calculate bearing and distance from latitude and longitude or use Redfearn's formulae to convert between latitude and longitude and UTM coordinates and vice versa. 'As the Cocky Flies' will calculate the distance between two places in Australia using the Gazetteer of Australia.
