The purpose of the Geospatial Decision Support Information (GDSI) Project is to develop and demonstrate spatial technology solutions that allow access to geographic information over the web, enable inter-operability with other agencies and develop spatial decision support systems for clients. The project is a working example of ways in which spatial information can be applied within government to inform the development of advice and policy.
The focus of the project is to:
GDSI is currently liaising with internal and external stakeholders, as well as other government agencies, to determine an agreed application scenario, as well as additional functionality needed for PEMS to provide support to the Reef Rescue Project, being administered through Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
GDSI is fine-tuning the GAIA-VIEW prototype remote sensed image discovery and delivery application, as well as formalising an evaluation package prior to its official review to commence in November 2008 by the GAIA-VIEW User Reference Group.
GDSI continues to ensure that the spatial and non-spatial interfaces of its Energy Information System (EISys) are accessible to policy officers in RET.
