1. Geo-Region of the Decade! - Paterson Province, Western Australia
Over ten years ago Geoscience Australia completed a project in the Paterson Province of Western Australia which highlighted the region¿s potential for base metal and copper-gold mineralisation.
In recent weeks Rio Tinto has been reported (p 27 The Australian 13 November 2018) as having a potentially significant copper discovery in the Paterson Ranges with over 11 000 km2 of leases pegged in the area. This was followed by reports (p70 West Australian 14 November 2018) that Metalicity is applying for 2 166 km2 of leases in the region.
Work undertaken in the highly endowed Paterson Province was conducted as part of the Paterson Project (2003-2006) and Onshore Energy Security Program (2006-2011) and the National Geoscience Agreement with the Geological Survey of Western Australia and other results are available as free downloads from the GA website.
These include AEM data and interpretations, solid geology, drill hole database, geochronology, airborne geophysical datasets and descriptions of mineral deposits and mineral systems that have affected the Paterson Province. In upcoming months data will be released from the adjacent Kidson sub-basin deep crustal seismic survey undertaken to the north of the Paterson province.

2. AusAEM Year 1 NT/QLD data release
On 11 December 2018, Geoscience Australia, the Queensland Geological Survey, and the Northern Territory Geological Survey released 57,700 line kilometres of airborne electromagnetic (AEM) data that were acquired in the first year of the AusAEM survey conducted under the Exploring for the Future (EftF) program. The dataset includes all AusAEM data acquired in Year 1 of the AusAEM project, which are located in the Northern Territory and Queensland.
The new data provide explorers with insights into areas of thick cover and areas with potential targets for further investigation. The survey traverses were flown on regional lines spaced 20 kilometres apart with the survey aircraft flying at a nominal 120 metres above ground level. The data is available free of charge. Future data release packages from this dataset will contain value added inversion and interpretation products.

3. AusAEM Year 2 NT/WA Expressions of Interest to subscribe to a regional airborne electromagnetic survey in northern Australia
As part of the Exploring for the Future program, Geoscience Australia will be conducting a regional airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey from the Hamersley Ranges WA to the Lake Mackay region in NT (approximately 1,150,000 km2), expected to start in February 2019.
Geoscience Australia is inviting interested companies to subscribe to the survey. This opportunity will enable participants to obtain competitive pricing, as Geoscience Australia will cover mobilisation and stand-by costs, and ¿fit for purpose¿ data that have been subject to Geoscience Australia¿s stringent quality assurance and quality control procedures.

4. Exploring for the Future Integration Workshop and Data Release at AGES 2019
Geoscience Australia in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Victoria has completed the first dataset of the #AusLAMP survey. Data were acquired at 100 sites from across Victoria. The #VIC dataset is now available from our website.
This workshop is an opportunity for explorers to become familiar with new datasets (including remotely sensed mineral maps, Proterozoic Pb isotopes, gravity grids and AusLAMP modelling), interact with the multidisciplinary team responsible for their collection/interpretation and learn how Geoscience Australia integrates these datasets using open source data analytics to gain insights into the subsurface geology of the Tennant Creek - Mount Isa area and assess its mineral potential.

5. New and Improved AusGIN Geoscience Portal Published
The AusGIN Geoscience Portal has just been redeveloped to provide a new fresh look, full mobile-device compatibility, and a more user-friendly experience.
The Australian Geoscience information Network (AusGIN) is a collaboration of all state, territory and federal Geological Survey organisations. It provides access to geological data from all jurisdictions through a single mapping portal. Currently, boreholes, mineral tenements, and mineral occurrence data is provided in the Portal by all Geological Surveys. Other datasets in the Portal include geological maps, geophysical images, rock properties data, and supporting topographic, infrastructure, and environmental data.
Users of the old AusGIN Portal may need to clear their web browser cache to ensure that all features of the new Portal work properly. Please use the feedback link in the Help menu to report any bugs or suggest improvements.

6. Update on geophysical data release
Geoscience Australia is managing the geophysical data acquisition programs in Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and the Northern Territory on behalf of the state/territory geological surveys.
