Private event: Special Edition Yarning Circle: Representation and role models in Earth Science
Page last updated:29 September 2025
It’s Earth Science Week so let’s talk Representation and role models in Earth Science and STEM. We know that representation is important to show students and young professionals that a career in science and STEM is achievable and rewarding.
At Geoscience Australia, we are proud to have many role models at every level of our organisation. People of diverse backgrounds who have shown us the way, and that career progression can take different paths. If the motto of Earth Science Week is “Earth Science is everywhere” then we can add “our science and STEM role models are everywhere too”.
At this month’s Yarning Circle, we will take a slightly different approach as we welcome a few GA Earth Science and STEM role models to discuss what representation means to them, and how role models (or perhaps a lack of) shaped their career paths.
